Popular singer and record label boss, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has spoken out in defense of Afrobeats star Ayra Starr after she was criticised for dancing to his new song, Pxy Drip (I’m Back).

A video of the Sabi Girl crooner vibing to the track surfaced online on Thursday, sparking mixed reactions. While some fans cheered her on, others slammed her, claiming she was endorsing Naira Marley despite the controversy surrounding him.

The backlash comes months after the singer faced heavy criticism over his alleged involvement in the death of his former signee, Mohbad, in 2023. Many had called for his cancellation, and the recent video of Ayra Starr dancing to his music reignited the debate.

Responding to the attacks, Naira Marley took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he called out those dragging the singer. He reposted the viral clip with a sharp message for his critics.

“Cry in peace and stop disturbing us with noise,” he wrote, before adding in another post, “Leave her alone and cancel me again.”

His reaction has sparked fresh discussions online, with some social media users questioning whether Ayra Starr should have publicly supported the song, while others insist she should not be blamed for simply enjoying music.
