Chocolate City Music, one of Africa’s leading media and entertainment companies, has launched its #BuiltByHer campaign, a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower young female entrepreneurs in the Nigerian entertainment industry through mentorship, networking and financial support.

The campaign will culminate in an exclusive Women’s Day Brunch on March 21, 2025, where three exceptional female entrepreneurs are going to be celebrated and one grand winner will receive a ₦1 million grant to advance her business.

Head of Legal and Business Affairs at Chocolate City Music, Ifeyinwa Anyadiegwu, emphasised the company’s long-term vision for female empowerment: “This initiative goes beyond a one-time financial contribution. We’re building a sustainable ecosystem where female entrepreneurs can thrive through mentorship, industry connections, and ongoing support. The #BuiltByHer campaign represents Chocolate City’s belief that when women succeed in entertainment, the entire industry benefits from their unique perspectives and innovative approaches.”

The #BuiltByHer campaign invited young women running businesses in various entertainment sectors including music, fashion, media, event management and PR to submit one-minute video pitches highlighting their entrepreneurial journey and how the grant would impact their business growth.

“At Chocolate City, we recognise that women face unique challenges in the entertainment industry, from limited access to capital to underrepresentation in key roles,” said CEO of Chocolate City Music, Abuchi Peter Ugwu.

“The #BuiltByHer initiative reflects our commitment to creating tangible opportunities for female entrepreneurs who are shaping the future of entertainment in Nigeria and across Africa. By investing in their success, we’re investing in a more inclusive and dynamic industry.”

The campaign ran from March 17 to 19, with finalists announced on March 20. The Women’s Day Brunch on March 21 features networking opportunities, a fireside chat with industry leaders, and the announcement of the grand prize winner.

This initiative is part of Chocolate City’s broader commitment to social impact and industry development, focusing on breaking down barriers that have historically limited women’s advancement in entertainment.

Founded in 2005, Chocolate City Music has grown to become one of Africa’s most influential entertainment companies. Beyond its roster of award-winning artists, the company has consistently leveraged its platform to drive positive change in the entertainment industry and society through initiatives like The Founders Fund and #BuiltByHer.
